Today I’m thankful for fun in the snow! Old Man Winter decided to visit us and give us more snow than we’ve seen in ages! I stopped measuring at 10 inches, I don’t think we got much more than that at our house, but that’s more than enough!
I know snow is a pain for most people, and I don’t love that we now have extra days to make up in the summer, but I have to say I enjoyed it as much as a person can. It was so nice to be cozy at home watching it through the windows, and only venturing out when we really wanted to.
There was an ambush Team Yeatman snowball fight (I lost since Mark and Sky were a team and I was only in pj’s!), lot’s of sledding, snow furniture making (Sky created a recliner to lay back and relax in…sounds too cold to me) and fun with the dog. Who knew that our little Texas rescue dog, who doesn’t like the cold rain at all, would love the snow. She’s a snow dog, and wanted to be outside playing in it as much as possible. Sky spent a lot of time throwing snowballs for her to catch.
It was fun while it lasted, now it’s back to real life, and I’m thankful for that as well.
Today I’m thankful for the beautiful place we call home. I love that we are only a few hours from the ocean or mountain depending on which way we feel like driving. The PNW is beautiful (even with gray sky’s and rain now and then).
I’m super thankful that our house is located close to several parks and some amazing views, and that we have easy access to green spaces and outdoor activities. My heart is happiest when enjoying the outdoors, and I’m thankful it’s easy for me to do so weekly!
Today I’m thankful for a Team Yeatman Fall adventure.
We took Sky to her first corn maze! It was my first non-scary one, and let me tell you I enjoy the kid friendly corn maze much more than the scary one with clowns and chain saws jumping out at you!
There were 8 trivia questions to answer and let me tell you it was a challenge navigating all the circular paths and dead ends to find all 8. But, Team Yeatman worked together and made it out!
I don’t know why we waited 7 years to do a corn maze with Sky, but we had a blast. New Fall tradition!
I’m always so thankful when we can do stuff just the 3 of us and have fun. Having friends join in is great as well, I’m just happy we enjoy being Team Yeatman, and can just be us and still have so much fun.
Today I’m thankful for a girl and her dog. I’m pretty sure Sky drives Ruthy crazy with her over the top displays of affection. But, Ruthy takes it all in stride (until she retreats to her crate).
For the most part, it’s mutual love and playing together. While I’m not always as patient with Ruthy as I could/should be I am thankful she’s part of the family, and that she’s so good with Sky. Sky adores her and those two run the house, literally running through the house!
Today I’m thankful for friends that turn into babysitters! It’s hard for me to believe that I used to babysit Grace when she was a baby and now she’s babysitting Sky for us! So crazy how fast time passes.
It was a happy accident that Friday Night babysitting turned into Grace spending the weekend with us…but it was perfect timing. We didn’t realize how nice it would be to have someone to do all the rides with Sky at the State Fair. It’s a hard no for me when it comes to fair rides, and while Mark can do them he prefers not to. Originally we planned on going just the 3 of us, but having Grace with us made it so much more fun for everyone, especially Sky!
Over the years Grace has been such a joy in our lives. When she was little we’d get our baby/toddle fix when she spent weekends with us. And, during our 3 year+ wait to adopt she was this little voice of support and comfort talking about how amazing the baby we adopted was going to be. It makes my heart happy that she’s such a good friend to Mark and I, and Sky. Plus, it’s always nice to have another trusted babysitting option!
We’ll be booking Grace for fair weekend every year! 🙂
