Oh Christmas Tree….

I know there are strong opinions out there about trees. People are either strongly in the fake tree camp, or the live tree camp. I guess we have a foot in each camp. And are lucky enough to have the space to pull off both types of tree!

Our fake, indoor tree.

Our trick…the live tree goes up outside! Seriously I have zero desire to deal with pine needles on the carpet and vacuuming every day, and frankly we don’t have a ton of room inside for a tree anyway. So, we have a 4 foot table top tree in the living room, and a 13 foot noble fir on the patio outside the living room window.

Our outdoor tree…and it snowed just a few days after we got it…so perfect!
When it snows one must make snow angels!

I can sit on the cough and enjoy the view of both trees, and it makes me so feel so cozy & happy!

I love the process of going out and finding our outdoor tree (man Sky was super picky about the tree and ended up picking the perfect one!), cutting it down, and then blasting the outdoor speakers with Christmas music while we decorate it!

Trying to get under there to cut our tree down!

Decoration Committee!
Decorating the garage next to the tree…she’s such a good helper!

It makes for a fun Christmas Tree Lighting with friends as well. If you have the space outside I highly recommend and outdoor tree to add even more cheer!

View from the couch…love all the warm glow from the lights and Holiday Cheer!

Little Bits of Merry

This last weekend was the traditional weekend to put up Christmas decorations and trees.  Unless you’re like me and went full on Christmas Spirit a month ago.  Anyway, I thought I would share just a few simple decorations from around the house.

We actually have 3 large storage bins full of decorations, but once they are spread throughout the house it doesn’t seem like that much.  It’s amazing how cheering just a little red and green can make things!
This is my favorite Christmas item!  My Grandma made it and every time I see it I think of her and smile.  I remember the huge smile she had the last Christmas we got to spend with her.  She was like a kid in a candy shop!  She was one of those Grandma’s that could DIY anything and everything.  To this day I treasure every handmade item/gift of hers that I have.
We don’t have a chimney, not that Sky even realizes what that is all about.  I thought this was cute though especially since it was only $1 at the dollar store!  Once Sky is a bit older we will hang it outside Christmas Eve.  Seriously check out the dollar store for Holiday decorations!
I used Christmas printed tape and Instagram pictures to make a Christmas tree on the freezer door.  It’s so simple and almost silly, but it added a nice Christmas touch to a large white appliance!  I do believe I got this idea from A Beautiful Mess (ABS).
P.S. All pictures have been edited with the A Beautiful Mess App.  I’ll get this out of my system soon!  There are just so many cool tools to play with.  And, no I’m not a spokesperson nor have I been asked by anyone to talk about ABS as much as I have the last few posts.
When do you decorate for Christmas?

Christmas lights…colored or white?
I like white lights the best, blue and green second.

Do you have a real tree or fake?

Does anyone get flocked trees anymore?
I have never seen one in real life in anyone’s house!

Does your house look like Santa and the elves moved in, or is it subtle Christmas Cheer?

Good Morning!!!

It’s funny how much more I enjoy Monday’s now that I don’t work outside the home!  It’s just another fun morning around here!

Starting out the day with sore, tired legs after an awesome killer run yesterday!  I missed all my First Sunday of the Month runs with El while Michelle and I were training for all the 1/2’s.  So it was nice to get back on track this month and run with her.

I never get tired of running at Chambers Bay!

El is a much faster runner than I am, and it gives me tons of anxiety to run with her, but she’s also one of my longest time friends and I love her, so I suck it up and put the big girl running shoes on.  While I was still a bit anxious this time around I was also excited.  My runs have been pretty speedy lately and I was ready to see if I could maintain the faster pace for more than 4 miles.  El can run and talk no problem, so is a good distraction/motivator when it gets hard.

If I can just keep that pace for another 6 miles I’m golden on my 1/2 PR goal for next year!!!

Yep I can!!!  That is a good minute faster on that loop than I was while training!!!  While I still slowed down a little on the two hills I was still about 30 seconds faster on those hills than normal.  I haven’t run over 4 miles in a month so my legs are feeling it today, but nothing out of the normal “I ran hard and pushed myself” discomfort.

After a great run (although it didn’t end great for El…her window was busted and purse stolen…boo to the jerk that did that!  At least the officer got a good lead from some peeps who saw a suspicious guy and took the time to write down the plate number/make/model of the car, and a unit was the way to his house (after running the plates the officer said the address was in drug central and he would put money on that being the guy based on the address alone) all before El even got back from the 4 miles she did without me.  Thankful they didn’t take the art deco, vintage windows I gave her, they were still in the car!) I came home to mimosa’s, football, Sky cuddles, and a little decorating around the house.

Love the random hugs and cuddles!
Starbucks Red Holiday Cup!!!  Tis the Season!

If Starbucks says it’s time, then it’s time!
All the decorations are up, except for the tree.  I don’t want to have the leave the tree alone battle with Sky for any longer than needed, so will probably wait until Turkey Day to do that.

Any great runs or races this weekend?  Tell me about it!!!

When do you decorate for Christmas?
